Politically Exposed Persons

Print

Identification of politically exposed persons (PEP)
The 3rd EU directive on combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism is aimed specifically at politically exposed persons (PEPs) as a risk group. PEP's normally include the highest members of the executive authorities, legislature and the judiciary system as well as the military central banks and the diplomatic corps.

Increased due diligence is required when dealing with this group of persons.

Lists from commercial providers such as the Dow Jones, WorldCheck or WorldCompliance are used to identify PEPs.

  • The PEP-component is used to identify potentially exposed persons. This way, they can be made available to the company-wide customer base system and other risk assessment systems.
